CAST OF CHARACTERS
In the order of their appearance
VINCENT R'LYEH......................His pale blond brows, long nose, high flat temples and pale eyes
give him the look of a rather pleasant Satan, offset slightly by the racial
tattoos and scarring which mar an otherwise pleasant visage.
He is over six feet tall. A hard shifty fellow, able to take care of himself
in almost any situation, able to get the best of anybody he comes in
contact with whether criminal, innocent bystander or client.
EFFIE PERINE..........................R'lyeh's secretary. A lanky, sunburned girl girl of twenty-two or three, with
a shiny boyish face , bright, direct, unspoiled.
MISS WONDERLY.....................Alias 'The Courier'. tall, pliantly slender. Her body is erect and
high-breasted. Her legs long, her hands and feet narrow. she has dark,
soft, wavy hair, full lips. Her eyes give the impression she could kill you
without even blinking.
FADE IN:
1. CLOSE SHOT - ON A WINDOW
upon which the words 'LHORENZHO' and 'V. R'LYEH' appear in reverse, in big black letters.
'Lhorenzho' has been crudely crossed out and partially scratched off.
Through the window we see to the left a typical Matari docking bay, to the right, a Wolf class
frigate floats bristling with menace.
CAMERA PULLS BACK TO:
2. INT. OFFICE - CLOSE SHOT - VINCENT R'LYEHbehind his cheap office desk, back to the window. His jaw is long and bony, his chin a jutting V
under the more flexible V of his mouth. The V motif is picked up again by thickish brows rising
upward from twin creases above a thin straight nose. His blonde hair flows down over his forehead.
He looks rather pleasantly like Satan. R'lyeh is rolling a cigarette.
OVER SCENE THE SOUND OF THE OFFICE DOOR OPENING.
He does not look up.
R'LYEH
Yes, sweetheart?.3. INT. OFFICE - MED. SHOT
EFFIE PERINE, a lanky, sunburned girl with eyes brown and playful and a shiny, boyish face,
shuts the door behind her, leans against it.
EFFIE
There's a girl wants to see you.
Her name's Wonderly, says she has something for you.
R'LYEH
A courier?
EFFIE
I guess so. You'll want to see her anyway. She's a knockout.
R'LYEH
(licking his cigarette)
Shoo her in, Effie darling -- shoo her in.
(he puts the cigarette in his mouth, sets fire to it)
The door opens again. Effie Perine stands with her hand on the knob.
EFFIE
Will you come in, Miss Wonderly?
OVER SCENE a voice murmurs something, then Miss Wonderly appears, advances slowly with lazy steps, looks at R'lyeh with eyes both stern and probing.
R'lyeh rises, bows, indicates with a slim-fingered hand, the oaken armchair besides his desk.
MISS WONDERLY
(softly)
Thank you.She sits down on the edge of the chair's wooden seat.
R'lyeh sinks back into his swivel chair, makes a quarter turn to face her.
OVER SCENE the tappety-tap tap of Effie Perine's Neocom.
R'lyeh smiles politely, creasing the scars which line the side of his face no matter which
clone he currently inhabits.
White teeth glisten in the crescent Miss Wonderly's answering smile makes. She remains erect in the
chair as if she expects to stay seated for only a moment. Her hands in dark gloves clasp a square black
box in her lap.
R'LYEH
(rocking back in his chair)
Now what can I do for you, Miss Wonderly?
She breathes out slowly, looks at him, optics flashing in her eyes as she scans him.
Leaning forward she places the box with some ceremony squarely on the desk in front of
Vincent.
MISS WONDERLY
I have a delivery for you Mr. R'lyeh, from someone you may remember....
OVER SCENE ALL SOUNDS FROM THE FRONT OFFICE SUDDENLY CEASE AS IF SOMEONE IS LISTENING INTENTLY
Miss Wonderly stands and walks towards the door, she pauses in the doorway and looks back
R'lyeh is staring intently at the box, a blue light appears in a line across it as it unseals itself.
He reaches out, placing the cigarette into an overfilled ashtray beside him and lifts the front of the
box open,
Looking at what is revealed a slow smile spreads across his face.
MISS WONDERLY
He told me to say 'It's time'
R'lyeh looking at nothing, nods almost imperceptibly.
R'LYEH
Yes...it is.....
FADE OUT.
THE END.
